Process
A practical website process from brief to launch and support.
The goal is to keep projects clear, efficient, and easy to move through without losing
sight of the business outcome.
What clients usually need to provide
Most projects move faster when the business can supply a logo, core service or product
information, any preferred imagery, and a rough idea of the pages or functions needed.
- Logo and brand assets if available
- Business overview, services, or product information
- Any existing website, reference sites, or design direction
- Priority calls to action such as enquiries, calls, or online sales
01
Brief and recommendations
The process starts by understanding the business, the type of website required, and whether Astro, WordPress, WooCommerce, or Shopify is the right fit.
- Clarify the goal of the site, the audience, and the priority actions visitors should take.
- Review whether the project is brochure, lead generation, catalogue, or full eCommerce.
- Recommend the most suitable platform based on content, products, budget, and support needs.
02
Mock ups and direction
A clear visual direction is worked through before a full build starts, so there is alignment on layout, content flow, and design tone.
- Review logo, imagery, and brand assets available for the project.
- Map out the key sections, conversion points, and page structure.
- Refine the direction until the overall look and feel is approved.
03
Build and setup
Once the direction is approved, the website build moves into development, content setup, and platform configuration.
- Build the front-end layout, responsive views, and page templates.
- Configure products, collections, categories, or custom content structures where needed.
- Connect forms, calls to action, and the practical features the site needs to function.
04
Review and QA
Before launch, the site is reviewed for layout, links, copy placement, and overall usability on desktop and mobile.
- Check the site flow from homepage through to enquiry or checkout paths.
- Review mobile presentation, button states, and form behaviour.
- Make final content, design, and setup adjustments before going live.
05
Launch and handover
Launch covers the domain cutover, final checks, and the basic handover needed so the business can run the site confidently.
- Publish the approved build to the live domain.
- Run final checks on forms, links, metadata, and key user paths.
- Provide guidance on the parts of the website the client will manage day to day.
06
Ongoing support
Support does not end at launch. Ongoing help is available for updates, changes, troubleshooting, and next-stage improvements.
- Assist with content updates, product changes, and feature refinements.
- Handle support requests and practical improvements as the site evolves.
- Help keep the website aligned with the business as priorities change.
